Devotion to Motion

Progressive metal experimental rock
Lyrics

[Intro: heavy riff, sudden stop, crashes back]

[Verse 1: staccato, punched syllables, each word separate, rapid-fire]
Wake up
Shut up
Get your feet up on the floor
Stand up
Man up
What you feeling sorry for
Clock's up
Time's up
Wasting daylight on the couch
Locked up
Stuck up
In your own head get out

[Pre-Chorus: shifts to melodic croon, almost gentle, wrong over heavy music]
Emotion blocking access to the motion
Devotion to the stillness like a potion

[Chorus: desperate wailing, whole band hits, manic]
Get up get moving
GET UP GET MOVING
Poor me poor me the list's too long
Get up get moving
GET UP GET MOVING
Too much to do so you do none

[Verse 2: same staccato punch, faster, angrier]
Scared much
Stuck much
Comfortable is just a cage
Weak much
Speak much
Never turn another page
One step
Next step
That's the only math you need
Victim
System
Kill the pity plant the seed

[Pre-Chorus: melodic croon again, cracking this time]
Emotion blocking access to the motion
Devotion to the stillness like a potion

[Chorus: bigger, more unhinged]
Get up get moving
GET UP GET MOVING
Poor me poor me the list's too long
Get up get moving
GET UP GET MOVING
Too much to do so you do none

[Bridge: sudden silence, then gentle lullaby voice, disturbing contrast]
The overwhelm's a story
The couch is comfortable hell
The feelings are the lock
The motion is the key
The only thing that's stopping me
Is me
IS ME
IS ME

[Chorus: everything detonates, three vocal modes colliding]
Get up get moving
GET UP GET MOVING
Poor me poor me the list's too long
Get up get moving
GET UP GET MOVING
Too much to do so you do none

[Outro: staccato commands fading, overlapping]
Wake up stand up shut up get up
Wake up stand up shut up get up
Motion from emotion
Motion from emotion
